Pre-enrollment is open for accredited Italian classes for middle and high school students.

Pre-enrollment is open for our 2026-2027 accredited Italian classes for middle and high school students.
The Italian School of San Diego LLC is accredited by San Diego Unified and San Dieguito Union High School Districts as an Independent World Language School. Classes can fulfill language requirements for high school graduation at public high schools within these districts and can satisfy college admission requirements.
We offer two tracks. Some levels meet on a fixed in-person schedule; others have a flexible schedule that we arrange together with the enrolled students — just email us your preferred day, time, and format (online or in-person).
Italian as a Foreign Language (for new learners): a conversation-first approach focused on real conversation and everyday situations.
Italian for Italian Speakers (for heritage speakers): as they progress, students follow the literature program taught in Italian high schools, reading Dante’s Divina Commedia, Boccaccio’s Decameron, Manzoni’s I Promessi Sposi, and Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey.
Students with prior Italian study may test into a higher level than 1-2.
Please pre-enroll by July 20, 2026. High school students should also notify their school counselor of their intent to take an outside language course so credit can be properly recognized.
See the full accredited classes page for course levels, workload, grading, and school district instructions.
