Pre-enrollment is open for Italian classes that earn high school credit, for middle and high school students.

Pre-enrollment is open for our 2026-2027 Italian classes for high school credit for middle and high school students.
Schedule update, August 18, 2026: Fixed-schedule classes start August 26 and 27. Sections are finalized and enrollment is open through August 25, 2026. Read the full announcement.
The Italian School of San Diego LLC is approved by San Diego Unified and San Dieguito Union High School Districts to teach world language courses off campus. Classes can fulfill language requirements for high school graduation at public high schools within these districts and can satisfy college admission requirements.
We offer two distinct credit-bearing tracks for middle and high school students:
1. Italian as a New Language (INL, for new learners): a conversation-first approach focused on real conversation and everyday situations.
2. Italian for Italian Speakers (ITA, for fluent speakers): as they progress, students follow the literature program taught in Italian high schools, reading Dante’s Divina Commedia, Boccaccio’s Decameron, Manzoni’s I Promessi Sposi, and Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey.
Students with prior Italian study may test into a higher level than level 1-2.
We have openings in every program and age group. Please pre-enroll by August 25, 2026. High school students should also notify their school counselor of their intent to take an outside language course so credit can be properly recognized.
See the full high school credit classes page for course levels, workload, grading, and school district instructions.
