In-person adult Spanish classes in San Diego
Learn Spanish in a welcoming, structured class designed for adult beginners. Through guided conversation and skill-building activities, you will develop a practical foundation in speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar.
Beginner group class
The group class meets in person once a week at 4550 Kearny Villa Rd, Suite 202, San Diego, in 90-minute classes. It is designed for adults with little or no prior knowledge of Spanish, and is taught mostly in English, gradually adding more Spanish as the course progresses. We launch new classes three times a year, in September, January, and June. The class is part of our World Languages program.
Your instructor
The beginner class is taught by a native Spanish speaker from Mexico with a master’s degree in modern languages and a bachelor’s degree in language teaching. Our instructor has taught Spanish, English, and French in elementary and middle school, English at the high school and university level, and currently teaches English to adults in San Diego. Our instructor also holds the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test, band 3 in all three modules.
What you will learn
The beginner course focuses on the Spanish you need in everyday situations. You will practice how to:
- Greet people, introduce yourself, and talk about your family, work, and interests
- Ask and answer simple questions about daily life
- Handle everyday situations such as ordering food, shopping, and asking for directions
- Understand short spoken exchanges and simple written texts
- Write short messages and notes
Along the way you build the foundations: pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and the basic grammar behind simple sentences.
