New for 2026-2027: we are opening a second in-person location in North County. Italian classes for kids in Encinitas, Mondays 4:00-6:00 PM.
Schedule update, July 30, 2026: Afternoon classes will start August 26 and 27, and the homeschool morning program will start September 2. Enrollment is open through August 21. The number of classes remains unchanged because the scheduled backup week will be used for regular instruction. Read the full announcement.

Our core afternoon classes meet once a week for two hours at our Kearny Mesa location. Classes are kept small (5-10 students) and are taught by native Italian instructors. These programs prepare students for our accredited classes, which typically begin in 6th or 7th grade.
Designed for children who are already advanced or fluent in Italian, though not necessarily native speakers. These classes deepen students’ knowledge of the Italian language and introduce topics taught to their peers in Italy, including history and geography starting in 3rd grade.
Designed for students who are new to Italian. Instruction begins in English and transitions to Italian, using a conversation-first approach with engaging activities that build vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence. Students are grouped by age and level.

We offer Italian group classes in the morning for home-schooled children and preschoolers, either at our location or on-site. These classes use play, games, songs, reading, and projects to introduce children to Italian starting from age 3.
For 2026-2027, the Kearny Mesa morning program meets Wednesdays, 10am-12pm and is organized as two 16-class sessions:
The Italian School is a vendor for Pacific Coast Academy, so you can use charter funds to pay for our classes. If your child is enrolled in another charter, please contact us; we can apply to become vendors.
These classes are for children who already speak Spanish and want to learn Italian. The curriculum leverages the similarities between the two languages to make learning easier.
Instruction is provided in both English and Spanish, helping students use their Spanish knowledge to learn Italian. The focus is on building vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and developing conversational skills.
We do not plan to offer this program in 2026-2027. However, if you are interested, please contact us to express your interest. We may be able to arrange private or semi-private classes based on demand.
Our main location is 4550 Kearny Villa Rd, Suite 202. Kids’ in-person classes are held there unless a specific class listing says otherwise.
For 2026-2027 we also teach in Encinitas, at San Dieguito United Methodist Church, 170 Calle Magdalena. Two classes meet there on Mondays, 4:00-6:00 PM, one for TK-2nd grade and one for 3rd-5th grade, September 14, 2026 through May 17, 2027. Tuition differs from the Kearny Mesa classes because the North County year is 29 classes rather than 33.
